Why Tulikivi soapstone fireplaces?
There are already over a quarter of a million contented Tulikivi fireplace owners (with over 770 million lbs of premium- quality soapstone being worked on). Our customers are also the market's most satisfied, or so independent studies show.

The Fine Particle Forum presented Tulikivi with the 2006 Fine Particle Achievement of the Year award.

Tulikivi has devoted to cleaner combustion technology that helps reduce emissions from small-scale burning of wood. Tulikivi has therefore improved air quality. Vuoden The Fine Particle Achievement of the Year was awarded for the first time year 2006.

Tulikivi is all for better combustion

The firebox is the nerve center of the fireplace, affecting its entire functionality. Tulikivi has two firebox solutions: the Tulikivi flat grate and the Tulikivi whirl chamber (you'll recognize them by the accompanying symbols ). Both solutions optimize the use of the fireplace and stand up well in detailed comparisons.

The flat grate maintains a high rate of combustion efficiency: wood burns easily and cleanly at a high temperature. Emissions from the fireplace also remain low. Thanks to its simple structure, the flat grate is an easy-to-use firebox solution.

The whirl chamber is a new invention patented by Tulikivi. It lengthens the time combustion gases remain in the fire chamber, allowing combustion to be not only efficient, but also exceptionally clean. Emissions from the fireplace remain at a fraction of the world's strictest norms. And the new ash box solution remains nicely out of sight.

Clean papers from the authorities

Tulikivi fireplaces have also passed through strict screenings carried out by testers around the world, and have fared better in these than many others.

Tulikivi also continues to participate enthusiastically in both Finnish and international research and development work. At Tulikivi, tomorrow's design is already under full steam.

Tulikivi is the first fireplace manufacturer to have been awarded the ISO 9001 quality certificate. Tulikivi fireplaces have passed all the industry's most stringent safety tests. Their emission range also complies with the world's strictest norms (including the IBR certificate).

The advantages of heat-retaining wood heating

Wood burning is a natural heating method. When burnt, wood releases the same amount of carbon dioxide into nature's carbon cycle as it does when it decays.

Up to half of all the energy used in the home goes on heating. Water heating takes a fifth, and the rest - a third of home energy consumption - is used on home electrical appliances and lighting.

Wood heating is a sure-fire option. Storms, power cuts or other disruptions in energy distribution don't affect a heat-retaining fireplace.

You'll obtain the best result from wood heating when you use a solid, heat-retaining fireplace. They have high performance and heating efficiency and their stored heat is radiated into the room evenly and over a long period of time.

Suitable wood for heating

Wood that's over a year old is recommended as firewood. Wood chopped in the spring can be ready for burning in the autumn, but wood that's over a year old will definitely be dry.

Chopped wood dries best when air is able to flow through the pile. The pile should stand on a wooden platform so that the firewood doesn't touch the ground.
